Chris Powell started his studio pottery in 1994 to make pottery in the style from the Arts and Crafts Movement. Like many pieces of that period, Chris' work features repeating designs with visual and tactile appeal. Particular artists of interest to Chris include Artus Van Briggle and William Hentschel, Charles Todd, and Reuben Earl Menzel from Rookwood. Their use of stylized designs to enhance form is reflected in Chris Powell's work.
