We just wrapped up our February 16th live auction.
The auction featured over 350 lots, including a variety of American and European art pottery and ceramics, as well as a nice selection of art glass, including some lovely Daum Nancy France figurines and statues.
The highlight of the sale was unquestionably the experimental Roseville Larkspur blue vase, which soared to a record-setting $8,850 with buyer’s premium after a spirited round of bidding.
Another highlight of the auction was the Weller Sicard bowl, which ascended to an impressive $6,490 after premium with a spirited round of bidding that saw 50 bids placed on the lot. The large bowl was in mint condition, and as one bidder stated, it was the “battle of the ball and that the breathtakingly beautiful piece was worth every penny.”
There was also consistent and competitive bidding throughout the day on many lots, particularly middle-period Roseville and Rookwood production paperweights. A Rookwood 1935 figural nude paperweight sold for $885.
A stunning Roseville Early Velmoss 137-12” vase with great mold and color sold for an impressive $1,121.
Other highlights included a Pewabic floor vase with a drill hole that went for $5,310 and a unique George Ohr Susan Frackelton bowl that realized $2,360.
Not to be outdone by the Ohr bowl, a rare North Dakota School of Mines Buffalo bowl also sold for $2,360.
