The May 18 live auction ended with a lot of happy bidders and sellers and extraordinary lots going to new homes.

The auction included over 330 lots of art pottery, art glass, comics, and other decorative collectibles.

The standout piece to this event was absolutely the Roseville Futura Tank Vase. We knew this one would be a hit, and it exceeded even our expectations, selling for $38,350 with the premium. We will be featuring more from this near complete Futura collection over the next two auctions.

Two framed pieces were highly sought-after and were each won after several back and forth bids in each lot.

Mueller Mosaic Trenton New Jersey Pottery Scenic Framed Plaque Tile Frieze

This detailed stone bridge panel is featured on page 149 of the American Art Tile book. It sold for $6,490 with BP.

Rookwood 1917 Scenic Brown Tone Landscape Framed Plaque Hurley

A large and impressive Rookwood Pottery vellum tile in an unusual earthenware glaze with a landscape scene of reflecting trees done in pastel shades sold for $3,422.

This auction featured several excellent pieces of early Van Briggle from a midwest collection. Two favorites were the 1907 Green Dragonfly Vase and the Van Briggle Figural Vase. These sold, respectively, for $1600 and $375, each with many bids.

We had a really unique selection of art deco clocks from a North Carolina collection in this auction, the star of which was definitely the Telechron Electrolarm with a green Bakelite case c. 1929, which sold for $550. Look for more for the deco clock collection in our upcoming auctions.

We’ve had a lot of great feedback with our inclusion of comics in the last few auctions, and this one was no exception with several titles selling for several hundred before BP. This Marvel issue of Supernatural Thrillers 3, with the highest of grades at 9.8, came out on top at $650.
