Roseville Azurean

Azurean is an early period pattern introduced by Roseville Pottery in 1903. Other factory names for this pattern include Rozane Azurean. The Azurean pattern was decorated with underglaze slip decoration in shades of blue and gray.

Designs often include floral sprays and scenic landscapes. The pattern was introduced as a response to Rookwood Pottery's popular Aerial Blue and Weller's Blue Louwelsa patterns. Roseville Azurean was typically marked Azurean, RPCo and the shape number. Many examples of Azurean are also artist initialed or signed.
