WHY JUST ART POTTERY AUCTIONS

Expertise

We know pottery. Pottery and ceramics are all we work with, and we’ve spent over 30 years dealing in American art pottery and European ceramics. We understand the market and how to photograph, describe, and market your pottery collection correctly and attractively so buyers will compete for it and confidently place maximum bids.

Visibility

In addition to our worldwide clientele on JustArtPottery.com, your collection will be put in front of millions of monthly visitors on various third-party auction platforms reaching the largest audience of North American pottery buyers. We’ll also heavily promote our sales on major search engines and social media sites as well as put your pottery in front of our thousands of active newsletter subscribers.

Simple, Hands-Off Process

We’ll do the work for you. We will take care of the auction placement, maintenance, and any issues that may arise. All you have to do is receive your payment from us at the end. We’ll even coordinate the shipping or pick-up of your pottery. And we professionally and cost effectively handle all packing and shipping of your pottery after the auction.

Small, Hand Curated Auctions

We specialize in small auctions so that your pottery gets the attention and interest of collectors and is not one lot in a huge auction of five or a thousand pieces as is so common in today’s auction environment.

Competitive Terms

We offer risk-free, competitive terms to help ensure you get the maximum value for your pottery collection.  In certain situations, we are even able to make cash advances on the sale of your pottery collection.

Testimonials

★★★★★

I had inherited several thousand pieces of art pottery high end to low end and makers from Teco and Grueby to McCoy and Hull and everything else in between. They did a great job of coming in a getting everything cleaned out. And best of all he took everything and didn’t try to cherry pick the best pottery and leave the junk for me to deal with.

I was shocked to see how much pottery prices had gone down since the days when and my husband and I were collecting.  I liked the fact that Greg was able to show me examples of recent sale prices for the exact vases and pieces in our collection.  He helped me better understand pottery prices today and made me feel comfortable that I was getting a fair price for our collection.

Greg and Lana did a great job with our collection. I was amazed at how quickly they were able to box and load the items.  Lana even rearranged my shelves and made sure my home was put back properly when they left. I was overall pleased with what I received for my collection and it was nice that they came to me and I didn’t have to pack or ship anything as I am no longer able to do that.

I needed to sell my art pottery collection.  Greg was able to quickly come in and appraise the collection and ultimately buy the pieces we didn’t keep. He was very patient and understanding with me during this difficult time as we decided which pieces to keep and which to sell.  I feel I got a fair price and the process was very simple and straightforward.  And it was really nice that they came to us to pick up and box the pottery.

Before my brother passed away, he had told me to contact Greg when it was time to sell his pottery collection. I found Greg and his wife to be honest, professional and respectful of our home and property. I know nothing about the value of pottery but feel that Greg treated us fairly and was helpful in the process of clearing out my brother’s estate.

FAQs

Once your pottery is received, we will prepare complete descriptions including measurements and an accurate condition assessment. Unlike many auction houses where everything is sold as-is, Just Art Pottery provides detailed and accurate condition assessments and reports along with high quality and detailed photographs. Art pottery buyers and collectors take comfort in these condition assessments and in many cases are willing to bid higher resulting in more money for you as the consigner.

HOW DO YOU PROMOTE MY POTTERY TO MAKE SURE IT IS SEEN BY THE RIGHT BUYERS AND COLLECTORS?

Each of our sales are posted on various third-party auction websites to ensure the maximum numbers of buyers see your pottery.  We promote each sale on a variety of search engines, social media sites and even run select print advertisements. Each auction is also prominently advertised on the home page of JustArtPottery.com which is the largest art pottery only website and ensures your items are seen by the most prospective bidders.

Our pottery auctions are smaller and typically will have no more than 200 to 250 lots and will consist of a wide variety of makers and styles of pottery. We limit the size of our sales to make sure our consigners collections gets the appropriate attention of prospective bidders.

Before committing to selling your pottery in our auctions we can give you pre-sale estimates as to our opinion of the price range your items may fall based on prices realized for comparable items sold in the past. It is important to note that these are opinions of the price that a willing buyer may pay for the property at auction and that actual sale prices may vary from these estimates.

When your pottery is shipped through us or picked up by us it is fully insured from the moment it leaves your hands. The insurance coverage remains on your property until it is successfully received by the purchaser after the auction.

We will continue to work with you on the best next steps. We may find that your collection should appear in an upcoming auction or be sold directly on our website. Rarely, we may return your items to you if we feel that’s the best option after we’ve used our expertise and nationwide connections to find a buyer.

Depending on location and size of the collection, we’ll coordinate the shipping, or we’ll pick it up before the auction.

Fees will depend on your collection type, size, etc. We’ll let you know after we assess your collection and before you make any final decisions.

Once it’s been determined that one of our auctions would be the right place to sell your pottery, we will formalize the details in our Auction Consignment Agreement which will be signed by you as the owner/consignor of the items and us as the auctioneer.

Yes! You can watch your auction live as people bid.

Within three business days of auction, the price results are verified and posted on the website. Within 30 days after the successful sale of your items, you will receive a summary of the items sold, prices realized, and related fees.
