FAQs
Once your pottery is received, we will prepare complete descriptions including measurements and an accurate condition assessment. Unlike many auction houses where everything is sold as-is, Just Art Pottery provides detailed and accurate condition assessments and reports along with high quality and detailed photographs. Art pottery buyers and collectors take comfort in these condition assessments and in many cases are willing to bid higher resulting in more money for you as the consigner.
HOW DO YOU PROMOTE MY POTTERY TO MAKE SURE IT IS SEEN BY THE RIGHT BUYERS AND COLLECTORS?
Each of our sales are posted on various third-party auction websites to ensure the maximum numbers of buyers see your pottery. We promote each sale on a variety of search engines, social media sites and even run select print advertisements. Each auction is also prominently advertised on the home page of JustArtPottery.com which is the largest art pottery only website and ensures your items are seen by the most prospective bidders.
Our pottery auctions are smaller and typically will have no more than 200 to 250 lots and will consist of a wide variety of makers and styles of pottery. We limit the size of our sales to make sure our consigners collections gets the appropriate attention of prospective bidders.
Before committing to selling your pottery in our auctions we can give you pre-sale estimates as to our opinion of the price range your items may fall based on prices realized for comparable items sold in the past. It is important to note that these are opinions of the price that a willing buyer may pay for the property at auction and that actual sale prices may vary from these estimates.
When your pottery is shipped through us or picked up by us it is fully insured from the moment it leaves your hands. The insurance coverage remains on your property until it is successfully received by the purchaser after the auction.
We will continue to work with you on the best next steps. We may find that your collection should appear in an upcoming auction or be sold directly on our website. Rarely, we may return your items to you if we feel that’s the best option after we’ve used our expertise and nationwide connections to find a buyer.
Depending on location and size of the collection, we’ll coordinate the shipping, or we’ll pick it up before the auction.
Fees will depend on your collection type, size, etc. We’ll let you know after we assess your collection and before you make any final decisions.
Once it’s been determined that one of our auctions would be the right place to sell your pottery, we will formalize the details in our Auction Consignment Agreement which will be signed by you as the owner/consignor of the items and us as the auctioneer.
Yes! You can watch your auction live as people bid.
Within three business days of auction, the price results are verified and posted on the website. Within 30 days after the successful sale of your items, you will receive a summary of the items sold, prices realized, and related fees.
