Handmade by McCarty Pottery of Merigold, Mississippi, this classic lidded jar features the studio’s signature jade green glaze with soft tonal variations and a semi-matte finish. The form is gracefully thrown with a rounded shoulder and fitted lid, topped by McCarty’s distinctive frog finial, symbolizing good luck and transformation.
Each McCarty piece is individually crafted, making subtle glaze variations and textural nuances part of its charm. A fine example of Southern studio pottery and the timeless craftsmanship that has made McCarty Pottery highly collectible since the mid-20th century.

McCarty Pottery was founded in 1954 by Lee and Pup McCarty in Merigold, Mississippi, where they developed their signature style using locally sourced clay. The pottery became known for its organic forms, earthy glazes, and distinctive "river mark" symbol, inspired by the Mississippi Delta. Over the decades, McCarty Pottery gained national recognition, attracting collectors and art enthusiasts alike. Despite Lee McCarty’s passing in 2015, the studio continues to operate, preserving the legacy of its founders. Today, McCarty Pottery remains a cherished Southern folk art tradition, with pieces highly sought after in the decorative arts market.
